The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Public Health and Services Division in Helena.
This position is with the Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Bureau working in the Cancer Control Programs. This position is a Claims Examiner and is responsible for paying authorized and approved breast and cervical cancer screening medical claims. This position ensures compliance with federal and state laws concerning these payments and ensuring enrolled medical providers are properly licensed and enrolled in our program.

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity
Knowledge of general accounting principles.
General knowledge of medical billing and coding terminology.
Skill in verifying the accuracy of data.
Ability to plan, organize, gather information, and conduct research.
Meet minimum qualifications\:
Associate’s degree in accounting, business administrative, finance, economics, or a closely related field.
Medical coding certification preferred.
One year of experience in healthcare claims processing.
Other combinations of related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

This position may be eligible for partial telework within the state of Montana. Specific conditions will be provided by the supervisor and must adhere to state policy.
This position may be eligible for a statutory $1.00 an hour base pay increase effective July 1, 2026.
This position is grant funded through June 30, 2027, with anticipated 5-year reapproval.
